Kimetsu no Yaiba

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba created by Koyoharu Gotouge, is a manga series that ran from 2016 to 2020 in Weekly Shōnen Jump spanning 23 volumes. The story centers on Tanjiro Kamado, a kind boy who becomes a demon slayer after demons kill his family and turn his sister Nezuko into one of their kind.

The tale unfolds in Japan during the Taishō era where the hidden Demon Slayer Corps fights supernatural demons with healing powers and special abilities. Armed with Nichirin blades and enhanced by breathing techniques, the slayers aim to wipe out demons and confront Muzan Kibutsuji, the ancestor of all demons.

The series’ popularity led to an anime adaptation by Ufotable in 2019 followed by the groundbreaking 2020 film Mugen Train, which became the top-grossing anime and Japanese film ever. Later seasons and movies expanded its narrative, including the Yoshiwara entertainment district arc, and reached a wider audience through side releases and simultaneous digital publications.

Critics and fans alike praised Demon Slayer for its artwork plot, and fight scenes. By 2021, it had sold over 150 million copies making it one of the most profitable media franchises in history and cementing its place in manga and anime lore.

Tanjiro Kamado, a kind and smart young boy, lives with his family in the mountains. When his father dies, Tanjiro becomes the family breadwinner. He often goes to the village to sell charcoal. One day, he comes home to a horrific scene: a demon has killed his family. his younger sister Nezuko, survives.

The demon attack changes Nezuko, but she keeps some human feelings and thoughts. Tanjiro then meets Giyu Tomioka, the Water Hashira of the Demon Slayer Corps. Giyu sends Tanjiro to train with his old teacher, Sakonji Urokodaki. This training helps Tanjiro start his quest to turn Nezuko back into a human.

When a modern woman is reincarnated as the doomed princess in a romance novel, she reaches out to grab a new future with both baby fists!

Simply translated, Kimetsu no Yaiba means “Demon Killing Blade”. “鬼 ki” means “demon”, “滅 metsu” means destroy, “の no” means of and “刃 yaiba” means “blade.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba’s Hopeful Ending, Explained. The Demon Slayer manga finished after 205 chapters in May 2020. Fans were sad to say goodbye, but the finale offered a glimpse into the hopeful future that Tanjiro and his friends fought to achieve.
